Shaquielle strongly believes in the potential of Biomedical Engineering in Caribbean academia and industry. As such, he spent a year as a researcher at the University of California San Diego in the Cartilage Tissue Engineering Laboratory under the supervision of Dr Robert Sah. During his years of clinical practice, he also tutored biomedical engineering students and guided capstone projects.
Dr Dias holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the UWI. He is presently pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering focusing on orthopedic research. This summer Shaquielle will be starting doctoral research in Biomedical Engineering at the Translational Tissue Engineering Center at Johns Hopkins University in the Grayson Lab for Craniofacial & Engineering. Orthopedic Tissue Shaquielle’s favorite pass time is cliff jumping and he learned to swim on his first occasion jumping.
