Hyekyung is pursuing a doctorate of optometry at University of California, Berkeley, the top optometry school in the United States. Since joining Berkeley Optometry, she has served as class president and as a student ambassador for the Office of Admissions. She is also pursuing summer research on glaucoma as a NEI-funded scholar.

Prior to Berkeley Optometry, Hyekyung pursued a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavior at Wesleyan University where she was a Wesleyan Mathematics and Science Scholar and a Senior Interviewer in the Office of Admission. During her gap year, she also contributed towards a nationwide, CDC-funded, COVID-19 research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Thus, she is excited to advise students interested in healthcare fields and STEM-related programs.
