Jovante is an extremely talented writer. In 2018, he copped the Poet Laureate of Jamaica Young Writer’s Prize for Poetry. While at Lafayette, Jovante studied Anthropology, Sociology and English as a Lafayette-Jamaica Scholar. Jovante has extensive experience working with students as a Writing Associate and taught several college-level English courses. Currently, he is finishing up a PhD in English Literature at the University of Miami, after which he hopes to take up a tenure-track faculty position (Professor) in his field.
